‘ENABLING OUR CHILDREN TO BE HARBINGERS OF GLOBAL PEACE’

In this era of globalization it is imperative to provide our students global exposure. Transcending the barriers of discrimination and developing reverence for the human family will benefit them in becoming messengers of peace and nurture global citizenship amongst them. Visits by various foreign nationals in the schools and interaction with them will enable our students to understand cultures different from theirs, develop respect for them and embed internationalism in the school curriculum.

 

Workshop attended by Choithram School Manikbagh Grade 11 students conducted by ÉcoleIntuit Lab at Choithram International

Students of grade 11 of Choithram School Manikbagh attended a workshop conducted by ÉcoleIntuit Lab at Choithram International, focusing on creating animated characters using Pixlr/MetaAI, Tripo, and Maximo. This session aimed to introduce students to the fundamentals of digital character design and animation, providing practical experience with cutting-edge tools and techniques.

The session began with an introduction to Pixlr/MetaAI, a powerful image editing tool that combines AI capabilities with traditional editing features. Students practiced creating character visuals, exploring different styles and techniques by providing different prompts. Students were asked to create a full picture in T pose Tripo was introduced to create the 3-Dimensional design of the picture which was generated earlier. Students created simple animations, learning the basics of movement.

Maximo was explored a tool for more advanced animation and character rigging. It Exports and finalizes animations from different platforms, including games, short films, and digital media The session concluded with a Q&A, where students had the opportunity to clarify doubts and receive personalized feedback from the instructors. The participants left with a solid foundation in digital animation and a deeper understanding of the creative process.

Visit by students of Tan Da High School, Vietnam

The International exchange program and visits by foreign nationals allow students to collaborate with peers from different countries. This provides students with valuable opportunities to enhance their knowledge and skills necessary for global citizenship. On July 19, 2024, Tan Da High School from Vietnam visited our school. To warmly welcome our guests, students from the primary wing performed a dance. Additionally, a video presentation highlighted the diverse activities carried out within our school. The students exhibited commendable enthusiasm in engaging with our guests.

Christophe Walder, Senior Programme Officer, School Enterprise Challenge (Global Awards), Teach A Man To Fish, UK Visits Choithram School

Christophe Walder, Senior Programme Officer, School Enterprise Challenge (Global Awards), Teach A Man To Fish, UK visited Choithram School on September 13, 2022. He got a flavour of the Indian culture in the morning assembly when he witnessed the mellifluous orchestra presentation by class 8 students related to the state of Nagaland and well synchronised Manipuri dance by class 7 girls in the morning assembly. He also viewed the exhibition comprising of paintings and artefacts of clay and craft material pertaining to the states of Telangana, Manipur and Nagaland prepared by students of classes 6, 7 and 8 respectively in their CCA classes.

He was introduced to the School Innovation Council by Anamayo Awasthi, the SIC Student Head. Aniket Atwe, I-Cell Head and Srishti Jaisinghani, E-Cell Head gave a brief overview of their work. In a separate interactive session with the E-Cell members, Srishti Jaisinghani and her team apprised him about the events conducted by the E-Cell in the past and the roadmap to the future. Yagya Asrani, General Manager of the school enterprise ‘Good Earth’ and her team members explained the working of the enterprise, the 3 P’s on which the enterprise focused, how the profits are used for a philanthropic endeavour and their failed ideas. He was very impressed with the confidence and communications skills of the students as well as observed how the E-Cell and the business enterprise were equipping them with entrepreneurial competencies. During his visit to the ATL Lab, he was informed about the I-Cell projects the students are working on, the Idea Creation Challenge, the Physics Club and the road map of the I-Cell.

In his meeting with the Student Council, Christophe learnt about the democratic process of selection of the Council and how the members of the student council get a platform to develop all the essential traits required of a leader. He was taken on a round of the Montessori block, the Junior School and the Senior School by the members of the Student Council. This was followed by the visit to the compost area wherein he was informed by the Eco Club students about the compost processing in the school. He also participated in the sapling plantation activity. Later in the day, he met our Hon’ble Managing Trustee, Mr. Satish Motiani and Principals of the Choithram Group – Mr. Uttam Jha, Principal, Choithram School, North Campus, Mr. Dilip Vasu, Principal, Choithram International and Mr. Amit Trivedi, Principal, Tirathbai Kalachand School.

Ambassador of Sierra Leone in Germany Interacts with TEDEd Club students of class 11

The members of TedEd club of class 11 had an interactive session with Dr. Mohd. Baimba Baryoh, Ambassador of Sierra Leone in Germany and his wife Mrs. Elizabeth Baryoh on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. The session began with Dr. Baryoh providing the students with a gist of his life as a diplomat, orthopedic trauma surgeon, his first visit to Germany as a medical student and his roles in the UN. He introduced the students with the cultural and social being of the country, the discovery by Pedro de Sintra in 1462 and the literal meaning behind the country’s name which translates to ‘Lion Mountains’. He emphasised on the resilience of Sierra Leone’s citizens and how it was a driving factor in the development of the country despite facing challenges like slave trade, Ebola epidemic and landslides. Students asked very interesting questions, which later transformed into prudent discussions. Dr. Baryoh also appreciated the cultural similarities and guided students who aspire to be diplomats. Mrs. Elizabeth Baryoh highlighted the role of youth and education in bringing great changes in the world. She sang a beautiful song to spread the message of global love and peace.

Ms. Paola Fatur, Senior Programme Manager, School Enterprise Challenge (Global Awards), Teach A Man To Fish, UK visits Choithram School

Ms. Paola Fatur, Senior Programme Manager, SEC (Global Awards), Teach A Man To Fish, UK visited Choithram School, Indore from April 4 to 7, 2019. On April 5, 2019, she had an interactive session with the business team of SEC of grade 11 and 12 students who apprised her about the working of the school enterprise ‘Good Earth’. She was very impressed with the confidence and communications skills of the students who very enthusiastically shared that setting up of the enterprise gave them practical learning beyond theoretical knowledge of the books. This was followed by the prize distribution ceremony wherein she distributed ‘On the Way to Gold Level’ certificates to members of the business team.

This was followed by the visit to the compost area wherein Ms. Paola witnessed the compost making and sapling plantation activity by students of grade 10 of the Eco Club. Thereafter she viewed the Clay Exhibition organized by students of Junior School. Students of grade 3 also gave a practical demonstration of clay artefacts prepared by them. In the indoor CCA rooms she observed students of grade 10 preparing photo frames and students of grade preparing fridge magnets of their favourite cartoon characters; handicraft items which are used in the fundraising events of the school business.

On April 6, 2019, Ms. Paola visited the slums near Bombay Hospital along with students and teachers of Community Service Club of the school. The students and teachers gifted the children stationery items, block games and story books. She interacted with the dwellers and was impressed with the community outreach projects undertaken by the school. This was followed by the session with the Principals of Sahodaya Group of schools in the school wherein Ms. Paola apprised them about the aim of the School Enterprise Challenge to create globally aware and socially responsible young entrepreneurs. She also encouraged the Principals to have their schools participate in this educational programme and stated the benefits of SEC. At the end, she expressed her gratitude to the school by presenting a small token to School Principal Mr. Rajesh Awasthi calling him the SEC Champion. She also presented Ms. Raminder Mac, Dean – International Affairs with a trophy, letter and certificate of being a valuable member of Teacher Advisory Panel of SEC.

Delegation from Mauritius Visits Choithram School

A group of delegates from Mauritius – Mr. Madhukar Narrain, Chairman Mauritian Society for Quality Control Circles, Ms. Vijay Laxshmi Booluck, Board Member, Mauritian Society for Quality Control Circles, Mr. Motee Bhunjun, retired Agricultural Support Officer – Ministry of Agro-Industry and Food Security, Mr. Kessor parsad Seebaluck, retired Senior Field Assistant, Sugar Industry Fund Board Member, MSQCC and Mr. Boopendra nath Narrain, retired Employee of Air Mauritius visited Choithram School on December 6, 2018. They interacted with School Principal Mr. Rajesh Awasthi and shared details about MSQCC (Mauritian Society for Quality Control Circles) being a non-governmental organization and the Mauritian chapter of the World Council for total quality and excellence in education. Mr. Rajesh Awasthi while sharing about the best practices of Choithram School also threw light on the quality standards in education being met by the school.

Educator from University of Waterloo, Canada Conducts an Interactive Math Workshop

Dr. Troy Vasiga, Computer Science professor from the Centre for Mathematics and Computing (CEMC), University of Waterloo, Canada conducted an interactive Math workshop for students of grade 12 of the school on November 16, 2018. He challenged the students with some interesting Math problems viz., non-magic square and finding measurement of one part of the side of a triangle. The students also enjoyed played a math game with their peers and learnt the trick of the mathematical concept that could be applied while playing it. Giving example of Albert Einstein who looked at the complicated universe with his simple formula E= mc2, he asked the students to look for simple solutions for complicated problems.

UK Educators Visit Choithram School

Mr. Christopher Toye and Mr. Andrew Terrey from UK visited our school on September 19, 2018. While Mr. Toye is the Executive Headteacher of the Wyvern Foundation, a group of four schools and two SEN resource bases for children with speech and language impairment and autism, located in London, UK, Mr. Terrey is the Headteacher of Wyvil Primary School and Centres for Children with Speech and Language impairment and Autism, located in London, UK. They interacted with the School Principal, Mr. Rajesh Awasthi and Dean – International Affairs Ms. Raminder Mac and shared about the Ofsted outstanding grades of their school. Mr. Awasthi and Ms. Mac shared about the global citizenship programme of Choithram School citing collaborative projects with different schools around the globe including various UK schools. They were taken on a round of the school followed by interaction with a group of class 11 students.
