Visit to Old Age Home

Students of the club visited ‘Maa Kankeshwari Devi Old Age Home’ at Mahalaxmi Nagar, Indore on September 18, 2018 accompanied by Mr. Erasto Haule, School Manager and Ms. Faraja Thembo, Headmistress of Ilowola Secondary School, Tanzania. The manager of the Old Age Home briefed about the working and the management of the Old Age Home and introduced the residents to the Tanzanian educators. Delicious fruit-cream, sandwiches and bhelpuri prepared by the students satisfied the taste buds of the old people and brought smiles on their faces. The lonely ones shared their feelings with the students and blessed them abundantly for this noble gesture. A sense of care and compassion in the students could be seen during the entire visit making it an experience to cherish forever. Mr. Erasto and Ms. Faraja were overwhelmed by the sense of care, compassion and responsibility shown by the students towards the residents of this second inning’s house.

Street Play on ‘Quality Education’

Students of class 8 presented a street play in front of the students of government schools of Harinyakhedi village and Umaria village on August 27, 2018 on the theme ‘Quality Education’. The students created awareness amongst the village students to follow their passion which could be art, music, dance rather than following their parental business of agriculture. Education would only help them to come at par with the mainstream and result in their upliftment. They also urged the students to keep their surroundings clean which is the base of good education. Lastly they stressed on equality in education, where both boys and girls have equal access to education. The street plays were also witnessed by 15 students of St. Anthony Girls’ College, Kandy, Sri Lanka alongwith their Principal Mrs. Chandana Ranasinghe and two teachers Mrs. Thushari De Silva and Miss Harshini Jayatunga. Both the schools are doing a collaborative project on ‘Quality Education’.

Welcoming Senior Citizens to the School on World Senior Citizen Day

To mark World Senior Citizens Day on August 24, 2018, senior citizens from ‘Kankeshwari Devi Old Age Home’ were invited to retrospect and relive the cherished moments with the students in school. After a cordial welcome, the guests witnessed the class presentation based on the sufferings of the senior citizens and the solutions to make them live life with dignity. The teacher talk by Ms. Neelima Shah made students understand that old people are the knowledge bank of our culture and tradition with inestimable experience and they should be treated with love, respect and care. The presentation concluded with the classical dance performance by the students. Thereafter students of classes IX and X served them food with their own hands. A group of 15 girls of St. Anthony’s Girls’ College, Kandy, Sri Lanka along with their Principal Mrs. Chandana Ranasinghe and two teachers Mrs. Thushari De Silva and Miss Harshini Jayatunga who were visiting our school also witnessed the presentation.

Street Play on ‘Eating Right Diet’

Students of class 7 of the school presented a street play in front of students of the government school in Harinyakhedi village on February 17, 2018 on the theme ‘Eating Right Diet’. The students created create awareness about the importance of eating a balanced diet and how the problem of malnutrition can be overcome by eating the right amount of nutrients in one’s diet. Ms. Gillian Fraser and Ms. Ellen Siv, teachers of Stoke Row C. E. Primary School also witnessed the street play in Harniyakhedi village. Both the schools are doing a collaborative project on UN Sustainable Development Goal ‘Zero Hunger’.

Visit to Helen Keller Blind School

Students of class VII visited the Helen Keller Blind School on February 21, 2018 to find out the difficulties faced by the visually handicapped children living there. With warm love, our students served them food which was savoured by them. Their disciplined life was a thing to behold. Our students parted with a smile and a promise to meet them soon. Their close association with the children made them empathise with them and helped them realize that life is not as easy as it seems.

17 students of classes VIII and IX of the club visited Aastha Vridhjan Sewa Ashram, regulated by Kalyanmitra Samiti, Indore on February 2, 2018. The students spent time with the elderly and showed their warmth and compassion. Talking to them, understanding their feelings, giving them a warm touch brought momentary yet profound happiness to them.

Vocational Training to Underprivileged Children

Children aged 12 to 16 of Bahuuddeshiya Seva Samiti were invited to the school on October 7, 2017 to enhance their creative skills. Class VII students of the club taught these students the creative work of basket making and pen holders. The zeal to learn the new skills was clearly reflected and the artefacts prepared by them were quite commendable.

Artificial Limb Donation Camp

The Club organized artificial limb donation camp in association with the Inner Wheel Club of Indore Uptown on August 27, 2017 in school, where 35 uniquely abled people were benefitted with the artificial limbs free of cost. The students volunteered for the noble venture and helped them in registration, guiding for the procedures and finally succeeded in bringing smiles on their faces. Registration, check-up, distribution and briefing were carried out in the camp wherein students of classes IX to XII volunteered and co-ordinated the programme.

Session on ‘Save Water’

An enlightening session on ‘Save Water’ was conducted by Mr.Sudhindra Mohan Sharma, Assistant Governor, Rotary Club (Sankalp) in collaboration with Inner Wheel Club Uptown on February 28, 2017. Mr. Sharma conducted activities to make students realize the worth of water and also informed about the effects of water crisis around the globe. The interactive session benefitted and equipped everyone with various ways to combat the scarcity of water.

As a part of AFS Day Celebration, class X students of the club visited Aastha Old Age Home on November 11, 2016 and distributed some items like oil, cold cream, toothpaste, body soap and washing soap to 85 old inmates residing there. They spent time talking to these people who in the sunset years of life had been neglected by their loved ones.

Choithram School Students Teach the Skills of Making Handicrafts to Underprivileged Children of Bahuuddeshiya Seva Samiti

‘Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.’ Students of the Club invested their time and skills to teach the underprivileged children of Bahuuddeshiya Seva Samiti, Indore, who visited Choithram School on October 19, 2016. They helped the children aged 8 to 14 years to make colourful and decorative bangles from discarded plastic bottles, pens stands from old CDs and used foil rolls, beautiful cards and envelopes from the old greeting cards. The activity witnessed the absolute participation by these vulnerable children and also enhanced their creative and imaginative skills. The experience taught the students that unless a life is lived for others, it is not worthwhile.

Street Plays on ‘Safeguarding Our Planet’

‘We have not inherited the world from our forefathers we have borrowed it from our children’. Students of class 9 of the main curriculum and grade 9 of CBSE-i curriculum of Choithram School, Manik Bagh presented street plays at Harinyakhedi village to aware the villagers on ‘Safeguarding our Planet’ on September 15, 2016. The presentations highlighted the causes and effects of smoke emissions and garbage disposal from industrial and human activities resulting in global warming. The remedies were also suggested to deal with the problems. The presentation by the students made the people thoughtful about using the resources judiciously. They portrayed the ailing planet and the urgency to understand our responsibility towards the environment focusing that we have the lifelong tenancy on earth with a duty of its repair.

The Rotary Club of Indore and Interact Club of Choithram School, Manik Bagh organized the distribution of artificial limb camp for the physically challenged persons on August 7, 2016 at Choithram School, Manik Bagh. Around 171 disabled persons benefitted from the camp which reintegrated them into the society with dignity to live independently. The process of distribution was completed in four phases – Registration, Photograph, Fixing the limb and Counseling of the amputees. The beneficiaries were instructed about the safety measures and precautions to help prevent the problem of artificial limbs. The entire event also witnessed the selfless service rendered by members of the Student Council who played an instrumental role to see miles of smiles on the faces of physically challenged persons.

Students of class X visited the Helen Keller School for Blind on July 30, 2016 and interacted with the students of class II to X. Students of both the schools shared their experiences. Our students learnt the different ways in which students of Helen Keller School study their course content using Braille language. They realized how people live confidently even with a permanent disability.

Class VII students visited Amarlal Old Age Home, Dwarkapuri on February 3, 2016 accompanied by Community Service Club teachers. Students talked to the old people and shared their experiences. Songs sung by the senior citizens made them relive their golden past. Their innocence like a child filled every eye with tears. The students seeked their blessings and distributed handmade gifts and cards with touchy lines that evoked their feelings making them feel special.

January 9 & 10, 2016

To focus on the goals of the Rotary to render selfless service to humanity, 32nd Rotary Interact District 3040 District Conference ‘Abhyudaya’ was held on January 9 & 10, 2016 at DAVV Auditorium,Indore. The event witnessed the participation by students of Rotary Interact Club of Choithram School. The combination of music and melody was well presented by the students in welcome song followed by the invocation of Goddess Saraswati to shower her blessings for the event of this magnitude. Kathak dance presented by the students unfolded diverse forms of Lord Ganesha pouring mind, spirit and emotions. The orchestra team of the school set the spirit of the day by the soulful sonata presented by around 25 musicians.

Students of classes VIII, IX and X visited Amarlal Old Age Home on December 22, 2015. The students sang old songs and played film quiz as well as Tambola with the 52 people deserted and neglected by their loved ones in the sunset years of life live. They were able to bring a smile on their wrinkled faces and make them forget their sufferings for a while.

Choithram School, Manik Bagh, Indore in association with Rotary Club of Indore Uptown organized the ‘Budding Leadership Conclave-RYLA 2015’from October 01toOctober 03, 2015 at Choithram School, Manik Bagh, Indore.RYLA, Rotary Young Leadership Award is an initiative to bring together the young ‘Social Leaders’ across the country who are driven to create social change on a global scale.

The event saw the participation of 104 students of 13 schools of the country viz., Bhavan’s Bhagwandas Porohit Vidya Mandir, Nagpur (Maharashtra), The Asia Pacific Convent Sr. Sec. School, Pratapgarh (Rajasthan), N. H. Goel World School, Raipur (Chhattisgarh), Delhi Public School, Sagar (Madhya Pradesh), St. Thomas Sr. Sec. School, Mandsaur (Madhya Pradesh), People’s Public School, Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Kinder H. S. School, Dewas (Madhya Pradesh), Shri Sai Academy, Mhow (Madhya Pradesh), Queens’ College, Indore, (Madhya Pradesh), Prestige Public School, Indore,(Madhya Pradesh), Pragya Girls School, Indore (Madhya Pradesh), Choithram School, North Campus (Madhya Pradesh)and host school Choithram School, Manik Bagh (Madhya Pradesh). The three days Leadership Conclave aimed at enhancing the leadership skills of the participants and kept the young leaders thoroughly involved.

Day one began with Four Way Test conducted by Rotarian Mr. Tarun Mishra. Divyam Maheshwari, President, Interact Club, Choithram School, Manik Bagh gave the introductory address followed by Rotarian Mr. AbhayGeed’s briefing session. Chief Guest Mr. Sanjeev Gupta, District Governor RID 3040 in his address highlighted the difference between a manager and a leader. He encouraged the youngsters to combine the traits of both and set an example before others in such a way that the world is proud of them. Mr. Rajesh Awasthi, Principal, Choithram School, Manik Bagh conducted the ice breaking session which resulted in healthy interaction amongst the participants.

One year exchange students – Niels Frederik Habran from France and Fabrizio Tucci from Italy (under the aegis of AFS Intercultural Programs) along with Kajsa Anderson and Rachel Sabella from USA also participated enthusiastically in the three days of RYLA. While Niels, Fabrizio and Kajsa are studying in Choithram School, Manik Bagh, Rachel is studying in The Emerald Heights International School.

Ms. Kala Mohan, an eminent educationist conducted the first session of day one on ‘Gender Sensitivity’.She stressed on the need to be alert, vigilant and observant, told the young leaders to draw the limitations and boundaries of every relationship and respect all creations of God. Creativity was at its best, when the groups presented jingles and advertisements on social issues like gender bias at work place, violence towards women, equal access to education for all, female foeticide, female infanticide, gender roles at home which were allotted to them by Ms. Raminder Mac, In charge, Interact Club, Choithram School, ManikBagh. Mr. Rajesh Awasthi conducted the next session on ‘Youth Empowerment’ wherein the students saw the movie titled ‘Ultimate Gift’ and realized the importance of happiness, hard work, friends, family, learning, laughter, giving and gratitude. They identified the qualities of true friendship and understood that ‘The greatest gift anyone could be given is the awareness of all the gifts he or she already has.’

Day two was a fun filled adventure. The young leaders went trekking up the hill at Simrole. They also learned about various medicinal plants and trees, besides inculcating the values of cooperation, interdependence, determination and appreciation of Nature, the beautiful bounty of Mother Earth.
Day three commenced with an inspiring session by Mr. Rashmikant Makwana, Senior leader, TGESheading the Training and Development wing, Director for Jamnagar school on ‘Youth and Concern towards Community’. The young leaders learnt to rely on themselves and take the initiative to serve the community, rather than waiting for others through stories, videos and reflective activities conducted by Mr. Makwana. He made them realize that each one of them had the hidden potential to create a change in society.The session sensitized the young minds about today’s dire need of realization of social responsibilities and their role as future builders.

The second session was conducted by Mr. Kailash Chandra Sharma, Founder Director, Basedonex, on ‘Social Responsibility and Youth’. Mr. Sharma called ‘Youth’ as the prime time of life and told the youngsters that they should monitor changes otherwise the changes will monitor them. The youth as leaders ought to put in the required force, otherwise the society will remain in a state of inertia, and they should be thankful for getting an opportunity to be of service to others.

Mr. Atul Gargav, PDG, RID 3040, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the Valedictory Function while Mr. Prakash Choudhary, Principal, Prestige Public School was the guest of honour.Princy Maheshwari, Vice President, Interact Club, Choithram School, Manik Bagh gave an overview of the three day Leadership Conclave and highlighted the learning outcomes.Participants from various schools shared their learning and the changes they experienced in their personality as a result of attending RYLA 2015.

In the valedictory function, Chief Guest Mr. Atul Gargav briefed the audience about the great human service Rotary Club has been doing for the past many decades, and encouraged the youngsters to be associated with Rotary. The Guest of Honour Mr. Prakash Choudhary enlightened the students regarding the role of social leaders and said that they were the brand ambassadors of RYLA. He stressed on the need to be firm, to be fair and to have fun in whatever one does.All participants received certificates while host families were felicitated for keeping outstation students and teachers at their place for three days.

RYLA 2015 resulted in a platform where the young students became expressive, interactive, friendly, co-operative, transformed into a leader and were all set to usher in a change in the society.They were encouraged to come together to be the change they want in the society.

The Interact Club aims to empower youth through community service and leadership development programme by providing opportunities to increase knowledge and understanding of community, national and world affairs. To fulfill this aim for international understanding and peace, Investiture Ceremony of the Interact Club of Choithram School, Manik Bagh as a part of Rotary Club of Indore Uptown was held on September 24, 2015 in the school.

Rotary Club of Indore Uptown’s President Rotarian Mr. Abhay Geed, Honorary Secretary Rotarian Mr. Rajeev Shah, Chief Guest and Installation Officer District Governor Rotarian Mr. Sanjeev Gupta, Guest of Honour, Principal of Prestige Public School Mr. Prakash Choudhary, Mr. Rajesh Awasthi, our School Principal and Chairman RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award) as well as other distinguished members of Rotary Club of Indore Uptown graced the occasion with their benign presence.

The ceremony commenced with the school choir rendering the school song. Ms. Raminder Mac, Incharge of the Interact Club of the school briefed the audience about the work carried out by the Club in the two domains – service to the community and youth empowerment through leadership development programmes. Rotary Club of Indore Uptown’s President Rotarian Mr. Abhay Geed briefed the audience about the work of Rotary. President of Interact Club, Divyam Maheshwari introduced himself as well as his team of Interact Club. Chief Guest and Installation Officer District Governor Rotarian Mr. Sanjeev Gupta, administered the oath to the new incumbents and emphasized them to be the role models for others in rendering their service to humanity.

Divyam Maheshwari and Lavina Nimgaonkar of class XII were formally enrolled in as the President and Secretary of the Club respectively. The new team comprising of Vice President, President Elect, Joint Secretary, Director of Vocational Services, Director Club Services, Director International Services, Editor Bulletin, Sergeant at Arms, Director Community Services and Director Youth were also sworn in.

The ceremony was witnessed by the students of class XI and XII of Choithram School. The new league of torch bearers vowed to uphold the values in high esteem while providing service to others. The programme ended with the vote of thanks by Hon. Secretary Rotarian Mr. Rajeev Shah

Visit to Anubhuti Vision Seva Sansthan

Group of class X students visited Anubhuti Vision Seva Sansthan on September 19, 2015 and distributed fruits, chocolates and handkerchiefs. They interacted with the underprivileged children and learnt how they communicate using sign language. They also played Antakshari with them. They learnt a lesson of life that the best way to find oneself is to lose oneself in the service of others.

Initiative for a Noble Cause – Small Steps to Eradicate Child Labour

July – August 2015

When the world says, ‘Give up’, Hope whispers, ‘Try it one more time!’ Keeping this in mind, the students of classes VI to X worked together on the project of ‘Eradicating Child Labour’. Different ideas were put forward by the students like spending time with child labourers, understanding their difficulties and how they could contribute to remove this blot from the society. They wrote punch lines and slogans, prepared posters, questionnaires for interviewing these children and prepared a street play pertaining to the same during the month of July – August 2015.

A group of 25 students of classes VI to X visited a slum area and an NGO working for welfare of slum children in Vijay Nagar on August 10, 2015. They put forth many questions to Mr. Gurvinder Singh, social worker who runs the NGO. They distributed handmade copies and stationery along with their old books and chocolates to the ‘children of lesser God.’ They asked questions to the children and presented them hand-made cards. In the end they staged a street play to create awareness amongst the slum children.

To be a part of the noble cause, students of classes IX and X along with the teachers visited Bahuuddeshiya Seva Samiti orphanage on January 24, 2015. The students conducted one minute games and played songs for the less privileged children. The students also took old clothes, pens, chocolates for which quiet voices whispered ‘thank you’ to express gratitude. ‘Be the reason someone smiles today’ was very well reflected on the faces of students as they were successful in making the difference to the life of the less fortunate children.

‘You and I are old; Old age hath yet his honour and his toil.’ Students of the Club visited the second inning’s house on November 17, 2014 accompanied with the teachers. The manager introduced the residents of the old age home and briefed about the working and management of the old age home. The green, calm, serene and pollution-free atmosphere conveyed the sound health and hygiene of the old people. Around 80 people deserted and neglected by their loved ones in the sunset years of life live there longing to share the grief and fond memories. To break the monotony, the students staged a skit which brought smile on their wrinkled faces and made them forget their sufferings for a while. The little child in the old came to life again when the children started tambola, passing the parcel, songs, poems and a lot more. Students talked to the old people sharing their experiences and received blessings. A sense of care, compassion and responsibility in the students could be seen during the entire visit making it an experience to cherish forever.

Awareness on Water Conservation Through Mime Presentation

Through a well synchronized mime presentation, students of class VIII made the village folk of Harniyakhedi village aware about the importance of water and ways to conserve it. They showcased how we human beings have not paid any importance to water conservation and wasted water in the past which has led to the problem of water shortage in today’s age. A day may come in the near future when we would be compelled to buy water at exorbitant rates for fulfilling our basic needs. The presentation left an impact on the viewers as they tried to introspect themselves and realized the need for using this precious resource judiciously.

Puppet Show To Educate The Villagers About Water Conservation

Students of class VI visited Harniyakhedi village on August 22, 2014 and educated the villagers about the importance of water and ways to conserve it through a puppet show. The animals puppets – the elephant, the deer, the frog, the mouse and the monkey were perplexed as they did not get enough water to drink and bathe. They blamed the human beings for this alarming situation of water shortage and gave a clarion call to the human beings to make assiduous efforts to save this essential resource.

Street Play on Water Conservation in Village Umaria

Class XI and XII students of Choithram School, Manik Bagh presented a street play focusing on saving the inevitable and precious resource-water, in the rustic environment of village Umaria near Rau on August 6, 2014. The school children of the village enjoyed the play and looked thoughtful towards saving water. The villagers too gathered from the nook and corner of the village to watch the play. The combination of humour and satire on usage of water had the telling effect on the people. The use of idioms and proverbs added flavour to the presentation. The place was thronged by the multitude of villagers who were not only spectators but also participants interested to join the campaign for conservation of water. The villagers were astonished to know how everyone can do their part to use water wisely to make the difference. Choithramians were overwhelmed to see their efforts gaining appreciation from the people.

Spreading the Gift of Literacy Amongst the Underprivileged

To spread the gift of literacy among the underprivileged members of the society, Choithramians stepped forward to help their brethren by donating books. Students of classes IV to VIII brought old as well as new books from home. These books were given to Rotary Club of Indore to be distributed amongst the members of the lower strata of the society. The activity sensitized the students towards a noble cause.

Choithramians Stage Street Play on Gender Equality

As a part of Commonwealth Class activity organized by the British Council on the values of Commonwealth Games Federation – Humanity, Equality, Destiny, Class IX students of Choithram School, Manik Bagh staged a street play in village Harniyakhedi. The students brought to fore the plight of women suffering and struggling with social evils of dowry, acid attack and rape. The street play was a direct and blatant attack on the status of women who in spite of representing half of the total population still suffer all sorts of discrimination in this patriarchal society. The vice and menace has been on the increase even after vocal and theoretical protests. The evils of dowry, rape, eve-teasing, acid attack are like cancer eating into our very moral and social fabric. These atrocious acts not only disfigure but also inflict the victim emotionally and mentally. Why we have turned a deaf ear to the voice of our own conscience? In Indian mythology women are ‘SHAKTI’ but sociologically they are not. We worship SHAKTI in the temples but the same is denied rights and privileges in the society, Why this inequality? The scenes would definitely create awareness amongst the people to voice their protests for this evil existing in the society in the myriad forms. The students carried placards with slogans for women empowerment and equality for all to create awareness.

To create awareness in the society for rights of women, a street play focusing on ‘Heinous Crimes Committed on Women’ was staged by class XI students of Choithram School, Manik Bagh at Krishnapura Chhatri on Wednesday, November 27, 2013. The issues of grave concern like eve teasing, dowry menace and sexual harassment were highlighted in the play. Students carried placards with various messages like: (1) If you don’t respect women, why do you worship Goddesses? (2)If you do not respect a woman, you are only half a man (3)Women are a nation’s pride, then why do they suffer such a plight? (4)Break the silence on men’s violence! The play grabbed the attention of the audience leaving a deep impact and allowing them to introspect themselves.

Fundraising For Distribution of Solar Lamps

Considering it our social responsibility to illumine the homes of the unprivileged ones, students of classes VI to XII and staff members collected a sum of INR 20,900 to supply solar lamps to the school going children in the villages of Borkhedi and Harniyakhedi that are devoid of electricity.

Choithramians Visit Village Harniyakhedi To Create Community Environmental Awareness

September – October 2013

Choithramians realized that the true value of the project stressing on ‘Community Environmental Awareness’ could be gained in the rural areas. Students of class IX participated actively in various activities during the months of September – October, 2013 and ignited this spark of spreading awareness in the village Harniyakhedi.

The onset of the project was marked by a rally wherein students marched in the villages holding banners and placards stressing on environment protection and conservation. Slogans used by the students were able to inspire the children as well as the villagers to think for the betterment of their environment. As a part of the ‘plantation drive’, the students planted five saplings near the Government School of Harniyakhedi and took the pledge to take care of the plants till they grew.

The next move was to arouse awareness through different presentations. Harniyakhedi’s Government School gave the students an opportunity to interact with the rural children. The well synchronized ‘mime presentation’ aimed at saving the future by protecting the present. ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness’, keeping this motive in mind, the students staged the ‘puppet show’ highlighting the need for hygiene and sanitation in an individual’s life. Choithramians realized that if the children of Harniyakhedi, the future of this village were made aware, the entire village could be made aware.

Their confidence, determination and professional presentation left an indelible impression upon everyone. The Principal appreciated the performance of the Yatna Yuva Sankalp.

Visit To Manuvriddhi Samiti

Members of the Club visited the Manuvriddhi Samiti at Manik Bagh on March 4, 2013 and interacted with 50 children suffering from mongolism, autism and muscular dystrophy. They witnessed the world of these cheerful, special children with abundant treasure of love and warmth. All the children carried a sweet smile on their innocent faces and were well trained. Our students were amazed to see that some of them knew how to write, could draw very well while some could even solve tough maths problems. These children also made beautiful rakhis and sold them. The students were touched observing the children with special needs sing songs and prayers. ‘We all ignore these special children, pass comments seeing them and laugh at them but they just want our time, love and care’ was echoed by Dishi Surana of class IX. The Club members appealed to their peers to break the bars of ignorance and come forward to turn the disabilities of these children into ability.

Visit to Yatna Yuva Sankalp

Members of the Club visited the Yatna Yuva Sankalp, a non-governmental organization that aims to make the blind youth self-reliant by making homemade chocolates, greeting cards and bookmarks. The students interacted with the nineteen visually challenged students on February 22, 2013 who were adept at computers, playing drums as well as making chocolates. A kind of guilt arose in the hearts of our students as they realized how fortunate they were to be bestowed with so many blessings from the Almighty but never realized that. They discerned that these handicapped children were far ahead of them in terms of confidence, passion and devotion. ‘The ones who are challenged, need to be heard. They need to be seen not only as a disability, but as a person who has and will continue to bloom, to be seen not only as a handicap but as a well intact human being.’

Joy of Giving – Visit to Bahu Udeshya Orphanage

‘Release the joy that is inside of another, and you release the joy that is inside of you.’ Keeping this in mind, students of senior wing collected used/old/new winter clothes from students of Senior School from December 14 to 20, 2012. 54 students of classes VI to VIII accompanied by three teachers visited Bahu Uddeshya orphanage on December 22, 2012 and distributed these clothes and edible items to the children. After a formal round of introductions, the orphans shared their experiences with our school students. Our students wanted to spend some more time at the orphanage; spending one and a half hours seemed less for them. The visit indeed sensitized our students and aroused a feeling of empathy in them.

Students of classes VI to X collected biscuits, wafers, chips, cold drinks, chocolates for the underprivileged children. Members of the Interact Club distributed the same on their visit to Jyoti Niwas Orphanage, Rajkiya Bal Shikshan Orphanage and Blind School on November 12, 2012 and November 17, 2012. Interacting with the orphans and blind, the Interact Club members realized the feeling of joy that giving engenders.

Fundraising For Visually Impaired By Students And Teachers.

To make a real difference to the lives of visually impaired people and help them to lead an independent life, students of classes VI to X and staff members collected a sum of Rs. 2900 for the blind in a fund raising event organized by members of Interact Club from October 29, 2012 to November 9, 2012. This money will be sent to National Association for the Blind in Indore which is working for the welfare of the blind by providing them training, employment and rehabilitation.

Visit To Harsola Village To Create Environmental Awareness Amongst The Rural Children

Stressing on ‘Community Environmental Awareness’, Choithramians decided to go beyond the rural-urban divide and realized that issues like lack of environmental and hygiene awareness need to be addressed at the grass root level.

A group of seven students of class XII – Jayesh Balani, Priyesh Sawlani, Ajinkya Mujumdar, Khushboo Kashyap, Janhavi Manjrekar and Vallaki Patni accompanied by teachers Mrs. Kshamta Ram and Mr. Dheeraj Sharma visited Harsola village on September 26, 2012. Harsola’s secondary level government school gave the students an opportunity to interact with the rural youth. This activity proved to be a refreshing and innovative one, as they interacted with the future of Harsola, which if aware, could aware the whole village.

Contribution For Helping The Physically Handicapped

As responsible members of the society, we all have certain moral obligations towards other people who are a part of this society.  Realizing the need for helping the physically handicapped and underprivileged ones to enable them to live an independent life, school students and teachers helped in contributing towards the blind and deaf during the session. A sum of Rs. 2400/- was sent to National Association for the Blind, Indore on October 12, 2011 while Rs. 7000/- was sent to All India Federation of the Deaf, New Delhi on February 16, 2012.

English Elocution Event – Polio Eradication Campaign And Rotary’s Role

English Elocution Competition organized on December 23, 2011 in the school premises under the banner of the School’s Interact Club witnessed students of classes VI to VIII speaking vociferously about ‘Polio Eradication Campaign and Rotary’s Role’. While appreciating the role played by Rotary volunteers around the globe in fighting against this deadly disease, the speakers urged the youth of today to channelize the power they possess and assist in curbing this tenacious disease. After 20 years of committed effort, Rotary and its partners are on the brink of eradicating polio but still a strong push is required to root it out once for all.

In keeping with the spirit of ‘fellowship and friendship’, Choithram School, Manik Bagh organized installation ceremony of the school’s Interact Club, as a part of Rotary Club of Indore Uptown on October 18, 2011. The ceremony commenced with the school choir rendering the school song and lighting of lamp by the revered Rotarians. President Rotarian Mr. Jayesh Jha, Honorary Secretary Rotarian Mr. Rajeev Shah, Chief Guest and Installation Officer District Governor Rotarian Mr. Atul Gargav, Guest of Honour, Principal of Prestige Public School, Mr. Prakash Choudhary and other distinguished members of Rotary Club of Indore Uptown graced the occasion with their benign presence Mrs. Raminder Mac, Dean of Activities took over as Incharge of the Interact Club.

Madhav Tiwari of class XII was formally enrolled in as the President of the Club and   Devika Badlani of class XII as the Secretary. The new team comprising Vice President, President Elect, Joint Secretary, Director of Vocational Services, Director Club Services, Director International Services, Editor Bulletin, Sergeant At Arms, Director Community Services and Director Youth was sworn in.
