April 11, 2025

It was a pleasure to welcome back Hannah Ochterbeck, who was a one-year exchange student at our school during the 2017–2018 session, after receiving the prestigious BP Scholarship. During her exchange year, Hannah was hosted by Shreya Khiani, a student of our school. Since then, Hannah has pursued a career in medicine and will soon begin her Physician Assistant programme, with plans to specialize in oncology. She is currently visiting Shreya and her family for a fortnight. Addressing the students of Grade 11, Hannah spoke about the transformative power of exchange programmes and how they foster lifelong bonds. She fondly recalled her experience at Choithram School and with her host family, which enabled her to articulate her journey beautifully in essays and stand out during interviews.

She was accompanied by Shreya Khiani, an alumnus of our school from the Class of 2021. During her school years, Shreya actively engaged in global exchange programmes—hosting Hannah from the US for a year and herself participating in reciprocal cultural exchanges to Spain and Srinagar. Following her passion for fashion, she pursued a programme at the London School of Trends in 2021. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design & Technology from the International Fashion Academy (IFA), Paris in 2024. Currently, she is pursuing an MBA in Luxury at IFA Paris, having been awarded the Excellence Scholarship. Speaking to the Grade 11 students, Shreya shared how Choithram School played a pivotal role in shaping her personality and guiding her journey. She emphasized how the school’s exchange programmes significantly contributed to her growth and encouraged students to follow their heart and passion, while appreciating the rich learning and co-curricular opportunities offered by the school.
