A group of 15 girls of St. Anthony Girls’ College, Kandy, Sri Lanka along with their Principal Mrs. Chandana Ranasinghe and two teachers Mrs. Thushari De Silva and Miss Harshini Jayatunga during their visit to the school witnessed various activities related to the culture of Sri Lanka during the morning assembly of August 27, 2018. The students of class 8 performed ‘Umendra Kahadawaarachchi’ dance of Sri Lanka, ‘Nilahas Thale Aage’ folk song of Sri Lanka and instrumental piece of music on ‘Muththa Awith’ song of Sri Lanka. They showcased their scrapbooks incorporating various facets of the culture of Sri Lanka viz., location, family and relationships, dance and music, art and crafts, cuisine, places of tourist interest, important traditions, beliefs, spoke few greetings and numerals from 1 to 10 in the Sinhala language of Sri Lanka. ‘Naga Rakshak Tiki Art’ involving masks of different hues related to Sri Lankan culture prepared by the students during their CCA periods were also displayed. Class 8 students had studied about the culture of Sri Lanka as a part of their intercultural curriculum during the period August – September 2018.
