The Choithram Centre for life skills learning aims to develop the holistic personality of the students, keeping in mind the changing scenario of the society. The main aim of C2L2 is to help students to acquire essential skills, abilities and capabilities which help them in their personal, educational, emotional and social life.

As per WHO life skills are the abilities for adaptive and positive behaviour that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life. Life skills include psychosocial competencies and interpersonal skills that help people make informed decisions, solve problems, think critically and creatively, communicate effectively, build healthy relationships, empathize with others, and cope with managing their lives healthily and productively.

The Centre provides Guidance & Counselling services in the following areas:

Personal Counselling:

This involves individual, group and class work about self-management, dealing with stress, anxiety and self-care. Individual sessions are conducted with students to assist them in dealing with particular traumas or problems they may experience.

Personal counselling is available for children to develop their strengths and abilities to achieve the utmost personal and social efficiency.

Educational Guidance:

This involves individual, group or class work to assist decision-making about the choice of courses, subjects or any academic learning issue. It includes such topics as motivation, learning, study skills, communication, examination techniques etc.

Career Guidance:

This involves individual, group and class work to assist decision-making about making informed career/course choices. There is a section of the notice board imparting mental health awareness.

How to Access Counsellors?

Students may self-refer to Counsellors or may be referred by staff or parents. Parents / Guardians wishing to speak to a Counsellor can seek an appointment through the school’s main office.

Some Problems for which Students seek Counselling :

Academic issues, anxiety, depression or any uncomfortable feeling, relationship difficulties, personal problems, career-related problems etc.

Activities Conducted by the Centre:
  • Individual counselling for self-referred and referred students
  • Life skills education classes for students to effectively deal with different situations like health and nutrition-related problems, peer pressure, exam anxiety, relationship crisis, adjustment problem etc.
  • Overall development of a child's personality which includes decision making, problem solving and creativity, responsible and safe behaviour.
  • Training workshop for teachers
  • Workshops for parents
  • Administration of aptitude tests and other psychological tests
  • Content (Worksheets) development for better mental health
  • Mental health awareness sessions
