Me in Me’ – Leadership Workshop For Prefects of Choithram Group Conducted By School Principal Mr. Rajesh Awasthi
July 21, 2012

The atmosphere was enthused with anticipation on mellow morning of July 21, 2012 as the school prefects of Choithram Group, viz., Tirathbai Kalachand School, Choithram School, North Campus and host school, Choithram School, Manik Bagh were eager to know what they were going to learn in the Leadership Workshop ‘Me In Me’ powered by Mr. Rajesh Awasthi, Principal, Choithram School, Manik Bagh.

Sitting in groups of four, the students explored themselves with various exercises conducted by the Principal. They were apprised about the Johari Window devised by famous psychologists Joseph Luft and Harry Ingham, a very useful way of understanding something of how our self may be divided into four domains that we and others may or may not see. The students learnt about the four domains – the ‘open domain’ representing areas that we know about ourselves and that others know about us, the ‘blind domain’ representing areas that we don’t know about ourselves but others know, the ‘private domain’ representing areas that we know about ourselves but others do not know and the ‘dark domain’ representing areas that neither we know about ourselves nor others know about us.

In groups of two, students also wrote about each other’s qualities and shared the same with everybody.  The third exercise witnessed students writing about their feelings as a son/daughter, as a friend and as a student.  The third exercise ‘Who Am I’ elicited a wealth of interesting details about the students as they vociferously spoke about themselves.  The last exercise focused on what the students’ friends thought about them.

Believing in the adage that ‘Everyone is unique and special’, the students learnt that they must never underestimate themselves. They must never compare themselves with others, realize their mistakes and try to rectify them. Lastly they learnt the importance of knowing themselves, ‘Becoming a leader is synonymous with becoming yourself.  It is precisely that simple and it’s also that difficult.’
